An exceptional Toastmaster's session

It was a memorable Mother's day gift for me when my daughter raise her hand and volunteered to do the table topic. I've never felt that surge of pride running through my veins as she walked up the stage and took up the question. We were equally nervous. The question posed to her was 'If you have a Million Ringgit in your hand, what would you do'. I was relieved...so was she. She fumbled a bit, got her compose and there she went....blasting away...in her expected teenage style, which was so refreshing to the club. We haven't had as young as a 13 year old lass as our visitor for as long as I could remember. She clearly inspired the 30s and 40 year old visitor with her sheer courage.

I am a believer of Toastmaster's program.I've seen how a meek, soft spoken young lady transforms into a confident speaker and a humorous one through the safe and supportive environment created by Toastmaster.

And the best part of the day was when my daughter was voted the best Table topic Speaker....You go girl!

SOHOMum Tip: If you struggle with being in the public, talking about your business, presenting and communicating, Toastmasters is a definite answer. That's where I grow up!

Attachment Parenting!

I'm one lucky woman!

I discovered there's a label...a glamorous one for a businessmum that 'lugs' her baby around....it's called attachment parenting:)

I went to one appointment, sat down at Dome, waiting for this guy..an acquaintance to share with him a 'serious' health improvement program. He has forgotten how I look but I remember him well.He looked at me, passed by without saying a word and still was looking around for me. I was of course looking at him while cradling my boy.I went up to him and reintroduced myself, both of us cracked into laughter, him being embarrassed of not recognising me.Of course I apologised too for having my baby with me....until the words 'attachment parenting' come flashing through my head. Those two magic words were my true savior! I told him I am a practitioner of attachment parenting...which is a hot trend in Hollywood (it is with Angelina Jolie, Jenifer Garner and many others). From the look on his face,he was the very least impressed and with full admiration, we continued with our conversation and discussion. It ended up well.

I'm one lucky mama...to be living in today's accepting era where people believe and accept the fact that women can do what they want to do, in my case continue sharing with people about good nutrition and at the same breath being with my children.

SOHOMum Tip 1: If you truly believe you can handle your job well, people will perceive it too.Confidence is infectious, so does passion!

SOHOMum Tip 2: Being your own Boss, you are at liberty to set the rules.Take a risk, be a trendsetter!

Yummy Mummy, Hot Mamas

Mother's Day is just around the corner.I'm busier taking orders for those giving Shaklee supplements as gifts to their mum. Can't help but think how lucky the recipient mums to have children that give this 'kind' of present. Most of them are the 'practical' type, wanting to see their mums in the best of health sincerely. It's not easy giving mums this kind of gift though. There's real effort besides handing the gifts. There's that daily call to remind them to take their Omega's and Osteomatrix. Some mums have to be coaxed and cajoled into taking their daily supplements, some don't even see it as a 'glamorous' gift.

I'm happy my mum happily accepts supplements as gifts but only after a few years.I never give up on sharing with her the importance of good health, abundant of energy as she aged into her sixties.Only when her heartburn ceased to worry her was she convinced of the value of such gift. Now she's an ardent sharer of these supplements. This morning she ordered a dozen of OmegaGuard, 6 bottles of Osteomatrix and a few peppermint ginger and Soy Protein.

I want to be with a healthy mum, enjoying our companionship as true close friends and so far we've achieved it.Simple things can be hard to grasp if we don't grab it fast and hold on to it...in this case the habit of taking good care of our health.

I certainly have a valid reason myself to be a true 'hot mama' as I just had a baby boy at age 42. I want my son to be proud of his mummy...and probably say 'She doesn't have knee problem at the age of 70!' She's one hot mama!'

SOHOMum tip:Be a good example of what you represent, then sharing will be much easier because you put integrity right on top.Ecomically it is the right thing to do in business too.

Monday, monday...my heart's on fire!

Thank Goodness I remembered to take my calcium and alfalfa before bed, I woke up this morning feeling good!

Actually, working from home...you don't worry what day it is:) And that itself is a wonderful feeling.I know and I can compare coz I was employed before. That jittery feeling, unsettled mind as you wake up and get dressed.Driving to work with anxiousness you can't explain, not knowing what to expect in the meeting room with the bosses, big and small, real one and the ones acting like one..

Oohh I'm so glad I'm over that.

9.00am Energetically I opened up the freezer, took out chicken and prawn and separate them into small bags, thinking what to cook...sambal udang or ayam masak pindang? I decide on the latter.

Cooking will only take 45 minutes the most, I remind myself again.

I succeeded in this attempt.(Good on you,Raudhah!)

SOHO TIPS: When working on your own, alone....praise yourself often when you do something good, NO MATTER WHAT
